While experimenting with both analog and digital technology, Emma Roufs is a quebecois/canadian filmmaker who’s particularly interested in film-journal aesthetics and themes related to memory. Her films have shown in various festivals and cinema spaces around the world, and are distributed by Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Center, Winnipeg Film Group, Groupe... Intervention Vidéo and Vidéographe. Her first essay documentary ATALAYA (2021) won awards at Cinema on the Bayou film festival (USA) and at Vues du Québec - Festival de cinéma de Florac (France). Emma is a member and administrator of VISIONS, and a co-founder and curator at la lumière collective, dedicated to screening and shining a light onto experimental film practices and their makers. Her master in cinema explores the Gift Theory and Jonas Mekas' cinema and his artistic community in the 60-70s.
