Khashem Gyal

Khashem Gyal is a filmmaker from the Amdo region of Tibet. He holds a BA in Tibetan Literature from Qinghai Nationalities’ University, where he also studied photography and film. His first documentary, Valley of the Heroes, depicts the complex linguistic and cultural transformations taking place in Tibet, and has screened... at many film festivals and universities around the world. Gyal's first feature film, Daughter of the Light, received the “Colors of Asia Award” at the 2017 Tokyo Docs Pitching Forum. In 2018, he was nominated for the Adeste Gold Medal, which recognizes global citizens under 40 who have "excelled beyond their limits in inspiring others to ‘touch the stars.’”
