Synopsis
Survivor Philippines is the Philippine version of the television series Survivor, which was originally based from the show, Expedition Robinson created in 1997 by Charlie Parsons. The series premiered on September 15, 2008 on GMA Network. The show is currently hosted by Richard Gutierrez. The first two seasons were hosted by Paolo Bediones. Like many of its counterparts, the show has a set number of contestants stranded on an isolated area for a pre-determined number of days until one remains and is given the title Pinoy Sole Survivor. Aside from the title, the winner also receives P3,000,000, the largest ever cash prize in the history of Philippine reality game shows. The show's tagline is "Pautakan, Pagalingan, Patatagan", the Filipino translation of the US version's "Outwit, Outplay, Outlast". The show, in general, refers their fans as a "Katribo", which means "tribemate" in English.

Season 1

The first season of Survivor Philippines premiered on September 15, 2008, and ended its run on December 14 of the same year. Auditions for this season were held in six Philippine cities in May 2008. From these auditions, 18 contestants were selected to participate on the show in June 2008. The show was shot in Ko Tarutao, the same island where Survivor: Thailand took place, from July to August, 2008. The names of the tribes were derived from the Thai language: Naak, Jarakay and Chalam, meaning snake, crocodile and shark respectively. The tribes were initially divided by gender, with Jarakay composed of the nine male contestants, and Naak of the females. On Day 19, the two tribes were merged into Chalam, composed of the ten remaining castaways. The season was won by John Carlo "JC" Tiuseco, defeating Robert Vincent "Rob" Sy, 7-2, with the seventh vote resulting from him winning the popularity vote mentioned above. JC's win was already leaked months earlier after a showbiz-oriented website published the alleged results of the Final Tribal Council on October 2008 after two of the show's staff were overheard in a coffee shop about the show's outcome. Bediones labeled that website's report as a spoiler and insisted that only the program manager knew the identity of the winner, as the results would be revealed live on its finale.
Season 2
17 Aug, 2009
Survivor Philippines: Palau is the second season of the Philippine version of the reality television series Survivor. The show started airing on August 17, 2009 on GMA Network. Auditions were held in key cities in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The winner will receive ₱3,000,000, the largest ever cash prize in the history of Philippine reality game shows, and the title Pinoy Sole Survivor. Paolo Bediones returned as the host of the show. Reports of the season being shot in Palau were leaked by local media in the said country when its president, Johnson Toribiong, reversed an order which required members of the Philippine crew to pay US$500 each, saying that the fee was discriminatory and his actions were the result for his desire to promote tourism in his country. The show later confirmed the reports and the location on its blog on July 26, 2009, further elaborating that the season would take place in the island of Peleliu, located southwest of Koror, where Survivor: Palau and Survivor: Micronesia took place. The tribes for this season, initial tribes Airai and Koror and the merged tribe Sonsorol, are named after three of the sixteen states that make up Palau, along with Peleliu. Interestingly, both names of the initial tribes are also tribe names previously used in the US version: "Koror" in Survivor: Palau and "Airai" in Survivor: Micronesia.
: celebrity showdown
Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Showdown is the third season of the Philippine version of the reality television series Survivor. Richard Gutierrez took over hosting duties after the show's previous host, Paolo Bediones, moved to TV5 a few months after the second season ended airing. Unlike the first two seasons, this installment would feature 18 celebrities from different fields of film, TV, sports and pop culture. Teasers of the castaways' identities were partially revealed between July and August 2010 before they were revealed on August 14, 2010. The show would be the second time that the Philippine franchise would take place in Thailand. Also, the edition took place for only 36 days instead of the usual 39. This would also be the first one in which castaways would live in a single camp before eventually splitting into three tribes. The three tribes, as well as the merged tribe, are named after Burmese mythical creatures: the crocodile-like creature Magan, the dragon Nagar, the long-haired ox Sar Mayee, and the eagle warrior Galone. The various Burmese references were attributed to the setting's proximity to Myanmar. The show premiered on GMA Network on August 30, 2010.
: celebrity doubles showdown
Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Doubles Showdown is the fourth season of the Philippine version of the reality television series Survivor. Richard Gutierrez reprised his hosting stint for the second time after Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Showdown. Unlike the previous season, and any other celebrity and non-celebrity seasons in any Survivor franchise, this installment would feature celebrities grouped as couples with preexisting relationships. Teasers of castaways' identities were partially revealed in the third week of October 2011. A week after the teasers were revealed, the identities of the celebrity castaways were then fully identified. The show was entirely shot in San Vicente, Palawan, the first time the Philippine franchise has filmed in their home country. The show premiered on GMA Network on November 14, 2011. Initial tribe names were Bulan and Tala, termed in-show to be names of goddesses of the moon and stars respectively. In the eventual merge, the new tribe was named Apolaki, after the Tagalog god of the sun and also the god of the warriors. Though the game is a doubles format, it was revealed in the first episode that only one will remain as the Celebrity Sole Survivor who will win ₱3,000,000.
